Gray Loft Gallery is delighted to present Orange Crush – our 8th annual color-themed juried photography exhibition. This dynamic showcase explores the expressive range and emotional resonance of the color orange through an impressive selection of contemporary photographic works.

The exhibition features elegant and vibrant interpretations of orange across mixed media, alternative processes, traditional color imagery, and hand-colored photographs. Eclectic and thought-provoking, the collection captures the many facets of orange – its warmth and intensity, its symbolism and ambiguity.

 Orange is the color of heat held in light, suspended between fire and fruit, dusk and dawn. It occupies a liminal space between red’s urgency and yellow’s brightness, carrying associations of vitality, caution, pleasure, and decay. Both inviting and disruptive, it resists neutrality, suggesting transformation—the charged moment when something familiar begins to shift.

Presented in conjunction with PhotoCarmel! Juried by Ann Jastrab, Executive Director, Center for Photographic Art; and Jan Watten, founder, Gray Loft Gallery.  This year’s exhibit highlights the work of 80 talented Bay Area photographers who bring fresh, distinctive perspectives to the color orange.
