Christine Ferrouge is a California artist whose work consists primarily of large paintings depicting her three daughters in narratives about girlhood. Through powerful and respectful portrayal of her young women-to-be, her work represents an important new era in female representation.
Above the Stairway was inspired by my daughter's introspective nature and her mysteriously peaceful presence. Patiently, she gazes patiently into a realm beyond. Oblivious to the viewer's presence, her private thought life supersedes the external world around her. The solidity of her confidence cannot be shaken. This painting celebrates a young girlhood filled with strength and contentment.
